In 2018 the District passed a bond for a construction project. After a few bumps in the road, the construction of classrooms, offices, and a central cafeteria has begun. The project includes the demolition of the old elementary campus and the front part of the Junior High, which first housed Natalia High School. Part of the project is relocating the memorial for Marisa Alejandro, which will be moved closer to Pearson Street and placed under a newly planted sycamore tree. The marker will be rededicated in memory of Marisa Alejandro when the building project is complete.
