Eric Smith

Eric Smith was born in San Antonio and raised in Natalia. Smith, a 2002 graduate from Natalia High School, is from a third generation family in the Natalia community. Eric and his newly wedded wife, Briana (Pacheco), who is also a Natalia High graduate, reside in the city of Natalia. Smith is a member of the Natalia First Baptist Church, where he has been a lifelong member.

He has over 70 college hours from Palo Alto College and Texas A&M Kingsville in San Antonio where his studies have been in Criminal Justice, Journalism and Elementary and Secondary Education.

He served as Sports Editor/News Reporter at the Devine News for eleven years, and is currently serving as Sports Editor for the Pleasanton Express.

He is serving his second term on the Natalia I.S.D. Board of Trustees. In his fifth year on the board, he is currently Vice-President. Smith first ran for school board at the age of twenty-one, where he was at the time, and the youngest school board member in the state of Texas. Smith also happens to be a third generation school board member as both his father and grandfather served on the school board.

Between serving his two terms on the N.I.S.D. Board, he was appointed to the Medina County Emergency Service District/Natalia Fire Department where he served as Vice President.

Smith has attended numerous state and regional school board conventions and workshops as well as served on the TASB Legislative Advocacy Committee during the 2010 school year.

One thing that he loves about living in the small town of Natalia is being active in the community.

"I don’t believe our job is to just show up to a meeting one time a month. I believe our duty and dedication goes way beyond that," Smith stated.

Over the years, he has coached and volunteered his time to the Natalia Youth Organization, Natalia Little League and Natalia Youth Football League.

He also dedicates many hours throughout the year volunteering his time at various activities at Natalia I.S.D., including being a mentor in the Natalia High School Mentoring program where he has served for over three years.

"I truly believe we have one of the best districts in the state of Texas. Our staff gives 110 percent every day to ensure our kids at Natalia get the best education they can each and every day. It is amazing to see our staff go the extra mile, just to assure that these kids have a brighter tomorrow. At Natalia I.S.D., we Bleed Blue to assure we are:

Building Lives, Utilizing Education- Go Mustangs."
